Why I Became a Counselor

My path to becoming a counselor began long before I entered graduate school.

Like many people who seek counseling, I have experienced trauma and difficult seasons that changed the way I viewed myself, relationships, and the world around me. I know firsthand how painful those experiences can be — but I also know healing is possible.

As I continued my own healing journey, I realized I wanted to help others discover that same hope. I became a counselor because I believe no one should have to face life’s hardest moments alone.

Today, I have the privilege of walking alongside children, adolescents, adults, and families as they navigate trauma, anxiety, grief, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I have a special passion for helping young children who have experienced difficult events because early support can make a lifelong difference.

My goal is to provide a safe place where healing can begin, resilience can grow, and every client can move forward with hope.

At Refuah Counseling, every client is treated with compassion, dignity, and respect. Healing looks different for every person, and together we work toward meaningful, lasting change.

 Every Healing Journey Is Unique

No two people have the same story, which is why no two treatment plans should look alike. Teresa takes time to understand each client's experiences, strengths, goals, and challenges before developing an individualized approach to care. Whether working with a young child, teenager, adult, or family, therapy is tailored to meet each person's unique needs while creating a safe, supportive environment where lasting healing can begin.
